Kefalonia is not only the largest Ionian Island but also one of the most magnificent. With incredible beaches, wonderful fishing villages and breathtaking landscapes, it is a unique destination.
In the north-west of Paliki with Lixouri as the closest large town, lies Paralia Petani. A sandy beach with impressive landscape, clear yet quite deep waters and a strong current, makes this beach a lively and exotic place. Particularly Petani offers wonderful sunsets and breathtaking views of the ocean and horizon. The beach is easily accessible by car.
A stunning beach in the region of Pylaros, in the north-west of the Island. With fine white pebbles and crystal clear waters, this beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe and has become a trademark of Kefalonia. From the top of the cliffs, you are offered a spectacular view as the green landscape with many hills protect the beach and help maintain its natural beauty. The beach can be comfortably reached by car or boat.
Eleni is situated on the Paliki Peninsula, close to the village Damoulianata. It is a quite small beach but has a marvelous setting with white pebbles and clear waters in many shades of blue. On the way down to the beach, you are offered stunning views, which already make this beach worth visiting. The beach itself provides opportunities for snorkeling, swimming or relaxing on the beach. Access is possible by car or boat.
Not far from the village of Fiskardo lie a few enchanting bays. Kimilia and Dafnoudi are small and peaceful beaches with coarse white gravel. These beaches are ideal for those looking for calmness away from crowded areas as they are far away from larger towns. Still Kimilia and Dafnoudi are hidden paradises with flat rocks for sunbathing and clear waters for snorkeling. Access to the beaches is possible by car and a 10-15 minute walk along a paved path which leads you to rewarding sceneries.
This beach is located in the area of Lassi. With blue-green water and giant limestone rocks underneath, the White Rocks Beach is a paradise for nature lovers. As a blue gem, still to be discovered, this beach is only accessible by boat.
A more popular and well-known beach in Kefalonia, located east from Argostoli. Antisamos is distinguished by its natural beauty with deep blue sea and pine trees that protrude the bay. Although it is an organized beach with sunbeds, umbrellas and places to eat, Antisamos remains a fascinating destination for visitors and is a must-visit beach when staying in Kefalonia. The beach can be well accessed by car.
In the northernmost part of Kefalonia you can find the village of Fiskardo, a historic harbor village surrounded by dense forests with tall pine trees. Fiskardo retains much of its original Venetian architecture, characterized by 300-400 year old houses with pastel coloured shutters as well as a Venetian Lighthouse and Roman Cemetery. Moreover, the village has plenty of lovely cafés and great restaurants, ultimately creating a village that is filled with life and natural beauty.
Assos is a picturesque village in the northwest of Kefalonia with traditional, colourful houses, olive tree forests and an enchanting atmosphere. As a fishing village perched on the water’s edge, fishermen drift here with their colourful fishing boats in the clear calm waters, amongst a deep green landscape. Near Assos lies a big fortress on a small island, with old castle ruins remaining from centuries ago, when the fortress was built to protect against pirates. Assos is without doubt a small, charming village that is worth seeing.
